1975-1980

1976-1980

 Belgium

Eddie Lateste and Peyo directed The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, a feature length film released in 1976.

 Italy

Bruno Bozzetto created Allegro Non Troppo in 1976, which contained surreal animations, blending live action and animation set to classical music, similar to Disney's Fantasia.

UK

Jeff Keen made The Cartoon Theatre of Dr. Gaz (1977), using stolen footage from Sci-fi films to make very flashy, disjointed animations.
Roger Mainwood directed the short Autobahn in 1979, using a computer to make some of the earliest CG work in an animation, but the many of the CG images were too primitive to be used in the film.

Australia/Poland

Yoram Gross made Dot and the Kangaroo in 1977, which layered cell animation on top of live action backgrounds. This film did well enough internationally to generate seven sequels.

USA/Canada

Caroline Leaf created The Street (1976), using paint on glass to detail the childhood story of a young Jewish boy's grandmother's last days.

Croatia

Zdenko Gasparovic directed Satiemania (1978), which I review below

Satiemania (1978) Review:

Satiemania is a surrealist, satirical look at life through the eyes of the animator.

I did not enjoy it.

I can get behind the surrealist elements of this animation, but it's the racist and sexist parts that I find unappealing. The African people are little more than caricatures and I've seen less boob jiggle in the female avatars in Dead Or Alive.
